Cardiff Bay - Daffodil

Posted by

A South Wales man has spent the majority of his life savings buying and refitting a passenger boat to take chartered trips around Cardiff Bay.

Ben Salter of Sully Terrace, Penarth purchased the Daffodil for around £11,000 on January 13 and has spent hundreds on the cost of getting the vessel fit for voyage.

He said: “I used my life savings to buy her and service her from top to bottom. She used to be owned by Cardiff cruises but they never had much use for her, so I was happy to take her.”

Mr Salter, 52, worked for more than a decade as a Captain with Cardiff Water Buses.

“Even though I have been on the bay for 11 years I am still the new boy,” he said.
The Daffodil holds 12 people and will take passengers half hour trips.

The passengers seem to be taking lots of notes. Was there a test at the end?
